Where you ride or drive

Want to Race? New to the Hesston Speedway this year is the Dirt Driving Experience where you get to drive a dirt late model race car or take advantage of riding along in the Adventurous High Speed Dirt Track Qualifying Simulation Ride that is available at all races. The Dirt Driving Experience is designed to give the racer or racing fan the chance to experience what it feels like to get sideways in the dirt. Under the guidance of an instructor, you will drive in a Limited Late Model Master Built race car or a GRT Super Late Model. The advance packages will allow you to drive both late models. The Two Seat Packages allows you to haul a passenger during your driving session. For more information about driving our race cars check out our you drive page.

About Hesston Speedway

Hesston Speedway is a 1/2 mile clay oval located in Hesston, Pennsylvania. The Speedway opened in 1963, by Robert "Sonny Eriksen operating until 1976. In about 1967, Eriksen enlarged the track from the original 3/8-mile circle to the present 1/2-mile oval. The front stretch was moved back toward the present grandstand and the backstretch drive in ramp was built as shale was removed to fill the steeply banked turns. The present turn three and four area was then a wheat field and the current amphitheater like bowl the track nestles in required extensive filling. Turns one and two were filled in and built up from a dip in the field, and all of turns three and four were built up from scratch. The track was purchased by Jay Grubb reopened in 1993. The speedway was sold to Ryan Lynn who operated the track until 2008, when it was sold to David Eriksen the son of Sonny Eriksen.  Immediately following the conclusion of the 2009 season, improvements began at the speedway including new clay, pit area reconfiguration and better parking access. In addition to the improvements to the track, Eriksen has added the Dirt Driving Experience, where visitors can come to dirt driving school for the day and drive a real late model race car.
